HANGAR x PIVÔ, Brasil 2025SP Como parte de mi residencia de investigación en Pivô, São Paulo, Brasil, creé un collage de fotografías de calle y una pieza sonora experimental basada en la documentación de la representación del espacio público como lugar de prácticas espirituales de comunidades migrantes, entre ellas la comunidad de los Baye Fall y prácticas de locales, como las Rodas de Capoeira. En esta investigación en la Plaza de la República en São Paulo, el espacio público se transforma en un espacio de culto, revelando un alto grado de sobreestimulación sensorial como consecuencia de las estructuras que coexisten en torno a la plaza. Los sonidos de las avenidas circundantes, las personas sin hogar, el comercio, el flujo de peatones, la presencia policial, la música y la vigilancia constante, entre otros estímulos, exponen la función de la plaza como un espacio de superposición y tensión entre lo espiritual, lo cotidiano y lo institucional, y cómo todos estos elementos se incorporan e influyen en la resistencia de diferentes comunidades y sus prácticas. ENAs part of my research residency in Pivô, São Paulo, Brazil, I created a collage of street photographs and an experimental sound piece based on documenting the representation of public space as a site for spiritual practices by migrant communities, including the Baye Fall community, and local practices such as Rodas de Capoeira. In this research in Republic Square in São Paulo, public space is transformed into a space of worship, revealing a high degree of sensory overstimulation as a consequence of the structures that coexist around the square. The sounds of the surrounding avenues, the homeless population, commerce, the flow of pedestrians, the police presence, music, and constant surveillance, among other stimuli, expose the function of the square as a space of overlap and tension between the spiritual, the everyday, and the institutional, and how all these elements are incorporated and influence the resilience of different
